My golf courses review

I will be playing this Sat (24/1) at Kundang Lakes (got 2 flight) and on Sunday (25/1) kat Bukit Kemuning (1 flight). It will be my first time going to Bukit Kemuning! Nak tenguk tempat - best atau xbest. Kalau bagus boleh jadi kan nya port.

Below are my reviews on the golf courses:

Description /Venue /Cost (RM) # /Value for money
Lake training (lost ball) /Kundang Lakes /40 /Yes
Very tight fairway & ball crisscrossing /Monterez /55 /Ok
Beauty n easy play (resort course) /Bukit Kemuning /65 /?
Rugged, tough and long /Danau /40 /Yes
Well maintained /Kinrara /55 /Ok
Fantastic green (5 star) /Lembah Beringin/ 40 /Yes
Soggy and plugged ball /Perangsang /63 /Not worth

#based on weekends using SSG Premier card.

Next target: To play at Tasik Puteri on 02Feb09

There is so much positive feedback from those who have been playing there. May be the downside was that the trees there are still young trees, so it is more "hotter" playing there, but the upside is that you may be kept "cool" by those pretty caddie pampering you? (Allahuhalam).

Monterez and Beringin

Monterez
----------
Saturday 17Jan09, tee off at 9.00 am at Monterez Golf Club. I always insist to tee off at the first nine i.e., hole no 1 then starting the game from back nine.

Hole no 10, there is a water hazard i.e., quite a large lake that you need to clear at least 160 meters. You cannot afford to fumble or mishit otherwise the ball will seek the water instead. So I think the best to start your game is from the first nine hole in order to give you a little more confident and by the time you reach hole no 10 your body has already warmed up.

Only 3 balls as the other friend could not make it. The players were Mohammad, Kassim and Sammuri.

Lembah Beringin
-----------------
Sunday - 18Jan09. Venue: SSG Lembah Beringin. We tee off at 8.30am, after completed 18 holes, we break for lunch. After a short rest, we continue to play another 18 holes. It is an endurance to test your fitness.

The "crazy" players were:
  1. Mat Fuzi
  2. Frankie Cheang
  3. Wan Abd Malik
  4. Mohammad

Saturday is family activity day

I kept telling myself that I have to keep me free on Saturday for family and home.

Saturday peak time is in the afternoon where my kids will be attending their piano lesson at Yamaha Music School Bukit Jelutong and also do their swimming training at Shah Alam Aquatic swimming pool. It is also the day; I usually take my eldest one either to BJGC for 9 holes par 3 golf courses or to its driving range in the evening

Exception to the rule
If I have to play golf on Saturday (provided that I don’t have any home chores to do) it must be on Saturday morning and the most favorable choice would be Kundang Lakes or Monterez because of close proximity to home.

Golf Balls

Other than our normal golf iron set, hybrid, putter and driver, you will always have to purchase golf balls. It is normal to loose the golf balls easily when one is new to the game. So you don’t buy new golf balls, instead you get it cheaply at roadside golf balls salesman! I started off by buying golf balls in a pack of 10 for RM10.

As we played more and more often, I started to buy a pack of 10 balls for RM15 because the balls were in a better condition than a pack of RM10. At this time, I also started to recognize only certain brands were likely suited me more. My choice then was Bridgestone e6, Srixon soft feel and Titleist DT SoLo. It is interesting to note that out of 10 balls; sometimes 2 or 3 balls were not to your expectation. So, I would rather to buy it loose than to choose it from the plastic packaging!

Purchase via eBay or phone – used golf balls
Now I buy less because I found a new way of purchasing my golf balls. I order it via phone to my golf ball supplier named Sam Siow (resided in JB), and my preferred choice of golf ball is Titleist DT SoLo. I got it for RM2 each and each order is a minimum of 36 balls for RM72.00. Rest assured I get a much better quality used golf balls.

Sam Siow advertise via eBay, http://myworld.ebay.com.my/nudbell
You can also email to him samsiow@gmail.com or call his mobile (I will update it later)

Be brave to buy new golf balls
Today I happen to spend my lunch time at GS Gills Jalan TAR, what else do you think I am looking for? Its golf ball as I have run out of golf balls (to order may take some time).
Ended up purchase for a box of new golf balls, Taylor Made Noodle+ which was recommended to me. A box of 15 balls has cost me about RM60 (after less), I think the price was quite okay.

Golf game at SSG Beringin on Sunday 18Jan09

I am anxious and looking forward to play at SSG Beringin at Lembah Beringin. I have played there once and I would rate as this is one of the best golf courses that I have played.

I have booked one flight to tee off at 8.30am. Will be playing with my following friends
1. Mat Fuzi
2. Frankie
3. Wan Abdul Malik

Since all of us are SSG Link members, we only have to pay RM40 (all in) for 18 holes. It is worth every sen spending at this course, believe me!

The only major setback is the distance that you have to drive from KL which is about 70 km or about approximately 45 minutes.

Their "TifEagle" greens were very challenging that will make you want to come here again!

Perangsang Templer Golf – my review

Played one flight at Perangsang on Sunday afternoon 11Jan09. It was a good weather and the scenery was marvelous with Bukit Takun as its backdrop.

The upside was that golf course were challenging. You can also find that there is a natural river in-flows through this golf course.

The downside about this golf course was that it was poorly maintained. The fairway was quite soggy and you would find difficulty to locate your ball even it landed on the fairway because the ball may plug into the ground. If it landed on the rough, you also may loose your ball because it is quite difficult to locate your ball into the long grass (not crop).

I would say that this golf course is poorly maintained. It is even more disappointed that they have recently increased their green fees beginning this New Year. For SSG members you need to pay RM63.00 for weekends as compared to RM39.75 previously. For non members, the guest has to pay RM99.00 for Sunday afternoon game. Considering increase cost and nothing is done to improve the fairways and the greens, it is a disappointing outing for some.

I have snapped some pictures taken from my camera phone.

In this picture is Mohd Kassim (we call him Kassim Selamat - named from the late P Ramlee movie). Of course our Kassim Selamat can see "quite clearly" (not like the P Ramlee movie)

Welcome 2009 - I hope this new year I will see some improvements in my game.

I think I had too much of a golf games for the last few days ago.
01Jan - Danau Golf Club. Played 2 rounds of golf (36 holes) AM/PM
03Jan - Monterez Golf Club - played 18 holes - tee off about 9am
04Jan - Danau Golf Cub - one round of golf game - quite a long queue - tee off 8.30am
05Jan - Kundang Lakes. Unfortunately they closed their 1st Nine for maintenance. We played two round at back nine. Their green were poorly maintained.

Today 06Jan - I still got one more day leave left...tentatively may be playing at Kundang again - playing weekdays is more enjoying because there are less people playing.
